Menstrual Disorder Management
Menstrual disorders encompass a range of conditions including irregular cycles, heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia), painful periods (dysmenorrhoea), absent periods (amenorrhoea) and premenstrual syndrome. These conditions can significantly affect quality of life and may indicate underlying health issues that require evaluation.
Conditions Treated
- Heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia)
- Painful periods (dysmenorrhoea)
- Irregular or unpredictable cycles
- Absent periods (amenorrhoea)
- Intermenstrual bleeding
- Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
Diagnostic Evaluation
Evaluation includes detailed menstrual history, hormonal profiling, pelvic ultrasonography and, where indicated, endometrial sampling or hysteroscopy to identify structural causes such as polyps, fibroids or endometrial pathology.
Treatment Options
Treatment is tailored to the underlying cause and may include hormonal therapy (oral contraceptives, progesterone), non-hormonal medications for pain and bleeding, or surgical interventions such as polypectomy or endometrial ablation when conservative management is insufficient.
