PAP Smear & Cervical Screening

Consultant: Dr. Habiba Quadri

Cervical Cancer Prevention

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when detected early through regular screening. Mother Hub Clinic offers PAP smear testing and counselling on HPV vaccination as part of routine gynaecological care.

PAP Smear Test

A PAP smear is a quick, minimally uncomfortable procedure that collects cells from the cervix for laboratory examination. It can detect precancerous changes years before they progress to cancer, allowing for early intervention.

Who Should Be Screened

  • All women aged 21 and above
  • Women aged 30+ may opt for co-testing with HPV DNA
  • Screening interval: every 3 years (PAP alone) or every 5 years (co-testing)
  • Women with abnormal results require more frequent follow-up

HPV Vaccination

The HPV vaccine is recommended for girls and women aged 9–45 to protect against the strains of human papillomavirus most commonly associated with cervical cancer. Counselling on vaccination schedules and eligibility is available during routine consultations.
